Panel ( continued )

Spent the week off an on wiring up the little black box.  Here's the completed assembly.

As you can see, there are quite a few wires required for flaps, aileron trim, elevator trim, position sense for the EFIS, and the ability to turn off the crew stick.

Here's a shot of the water tight box all closed up and installed under the pilots seat.

Each of the trim motors will be attached via a 9 pin sub D.  One sub D goes to the panel for power, sense signals to the EFIS, prime, fuel pump, starter relay, and the signal to deactivate the crew stick.  The pilot and crew sticks will just snap in place via the 18 pin cannon connectors.

Spent Saturday installing the throttle, prop, mixture, and carb heat controls.  Vans plans on where to cut the holes in the firewall turned out to be very close.  The only hole I had to move a bit was the mixture hole to make room for the fire shield.

I decided to go with just a solid plate with bushings to support the cables under the panel.

Decided to re-layout the right side panel.  I moved the airspeed, altimeter, and VSI into the EIS-4000 engine monitor ( for a fee Grand Rapids can add these functions to this unit ).  The new panel has been cut and is now in place.

I have room left over now for a second or third GRI display.

Cut some more holes in the firewall for EIS 4000 cables for CHT and EGT and countless other sensors

Mounted the Cap to analog converters.  One for each side.  The mounting location is a no brainer.  There is basically no other place to mount them that you can easily get to calibrate when needed.  I have already calibrated each of these to their respective fuel tanks.

One right.

One left.

I went ahead and installed platenuts even though it required me removing all the radios and the AHRS unit to keep them from getting damaged by the impact stress from the rivet gun.  I decided that access to the back of these converters would be extremely limited when I finally attach the top skin.

I also placed on order my LightSpeed Engineering Plasma II CDI ignition, exhaust system, and engine mounting hardware in prep for going from the fuselage jig to the gear and mounting the engine.
