I like it like that…

June 20th, 2008

I always research the latest trends,  and technology for cosmetic procedures,  and recently I came across a machine called the Vibraderm.

As I read more about this machine I became very intrigued by all of the benefits that a client could gain from just one to three treatments.  Not only is the Vibraderm great for clients,  but,  it is also very sanitary.   Vibradermabrasion evenly removes portions of the rough outer layer of the skin leaving the skin very smooth and polished.  As treatments continue, it improves both the epidermal,  and dermal layers of the skin,  and rebuilds the clients collagen.  This is a painless procedure with absolutely no patient down time.

I worked with a young client that had eczema or “dry skin”, and after Vibraderming, and infusing her face with a cream using the Vibraderm to work the cream into her face,  she had amazing results.  She went from dull, dry skin to healthy, supple looking skin… well see for yourself.

I also recommend Vibraderm for clients with sensitive skin or Rosacea.  Some people can’t tolerate a Microdermabrasion so they can get treated with the Vibraderm.  I treated a client that had older skin with a lot of redness.  After two weeks of treatment the client had an extreme reduction in redness,  her skin has also become more firmer.  My client loved this treatment she said it felt like a great massage.

“I love this machine!” I recommend the Vibraderm to any one who has Rosacea or any of the following skin issues;  Acne Prone Skin,  Blackheads,  Whiteheads (Comedones),  Sun Damaged Skin,  Rough Skin Any Location,  Fine Wrinkles,  Superficial Age Spots,  Oily Skin,  Keratosis pilaris,  Sebaceous hyperplasia,  and Syringomas.

On a lighter note…

I was treating another client with the Vibraderm, when we were done she commented on how great her skin looked.  She also commented on how she looks forward to coming in to the office to get her facial massage,  and how her husband does not approve.

I asked her what she meant by her husband not approving of her coming and getting “facial massage” treatment.  She said “my husband can’t stand the fact that a vibrating facial gives me way more pleasure then he has in six years.  Man!  I never knew the Vibraderm felt that good.

I want one now ;-)

No Mo Hair!

June 10th, 2008

Getting hair removal full body is like having a time machine.  If I could go back, and get all of those hours back I spent shaving my underarms, and legs I would probably add another year to my life.  OK, so I’m curious… if you take on the average 15 minutes a day, times 365 days in a year, times 30 years, that comes out to 1.3 YEARS! It’s like waiting at a red light for over a year… losing all that time.  Not to mention the cost of razors, and frequently cutting yourself when your in a hurry.  The razor burns, and ingrown hairs… what a pain.

waxing hair removal

I did try waxing but the problem is you can’t shave for a week, and so you have to go around with hairy legs in order for the wax strip to pull the hair out.   Also… it pulls the top layer of your skin off, and as a result, it sometimes bleeds. Not to mention, it really hurts when they rip the strip off.  Remember that scene from a 40 year old virgin. Oh yeah, let’s not forget it’s is so sticky, and hard to clean up.  YUK! Sure, your legs feel really smooth for about a week.  Then you have to start the process of growing your hair out all over again, very embarrassing and time consuming.

I am proud to say I have found the “best” solution.  Yes, that’s right, laser hair removal.  You are in, and out of a shower as fast as a guy. No more spending time trying to balance yourself in the shower to shave.  No more bathing in a tub with nasty little hairs floating all around you.

Hip Hip, Hooray, for Hair Removal with Lasers.

So… be Hairless, and Happy.

Are you passing for younger? Would you like to ;-)

June 9th, 2008

Ok, for all you over the age of 29, you can list this under one of the stupidest questions of all times… OF COURSE YOU WOULD. Who wouldn’t like to pass for a younger version of themselves.

Unfortunately for those of us who live in the south, and worship the sun, we are pretty much on a fast track to older looking skin. The sun not only drys your skin out, but it also goes a long way to reducing the amount of natural elasticity that helps make everything appear so perky. Add to this a host of visual damaging effects where pigment at seemingly random locations on your hands and arms turns darker. Yes, I’m referring to those nasty looking liver spots, or “age” spots as some refer to them. Sure you can cover your arms with a long sleeve top, but when you go to sign that credit card receipt, all eyes focus on your hands. It can make you feel like your 100.

The good news is, there is a cure….

and if you act now… you can also receive the electric dog polisher, and we’ll even throw in a fur lined sink absolutly FREE.

But seriously folks, a few years back those crazy laser scientists developed a process called Intense Pulse Light. This is quite simply a very intense light that goes off like a big flash bulb. When the light flashes we pass it through a special filter that sends just the right frequency of light to those zap those age spots. It is 100% effective. That’s right ladies, 100%.

Here’s a shot of an ”actual customer” right after the treatment.  Notice how after the first treatment all the sun damage spots come right to the surface just like scrapes.

sun damage before

Once the spots make their way to the top layer of skin, it’s a small mater of microderming them off for the finshed result…

sun damage after

This is just 12 days later.  Come on now, how can you keep from just being blown away by those kinds of results.   I still marvel at the effectivness of this treatment, and I’m not very easily impressed :-)

Is your Epidermis Happy

June 5th, 2008

We seem to spend a lot of time, and money to repair all the damage done to the largest organ we have, the skin. And for most folks, it ain’t pretty. Thank goodness our generation has a way of fighting back. State of the art laser, and medical grade products can give us a leg up in the war to save our skin. Learning to shield our skin from age damage caused by the sun, and free radicals has helped us a great deal.

Have you noticed that when you change skin products it’s is a lot like changing the products you use on your hair. The PH balance of your skin works a lot like the PH Balance on your hair. Hair products seem to loose their effectiveness after using them for long periods of time. After a while your hair seems to loose its luster. Skin products are the same way. Trying a new product seems to wake your skin up again, and it looks refreshed. Of coarse hydration is the number one beauty secret for hair, and skin. Be sure to use the old H2O for your entire body. It’s our main ingredient after all. So remember…to look your best, keep your main ingredient topped of, and take care of your largest organ, your skin.

Oh yeah… be Happy, Healthy and Beautiful.

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock

No, that’s not your biological clock, that’s the snooze alarm for your next hair removal appointment…

Did you know that every hair on your body grows at a very predictable rate. Did you also know that only one type of hair ( “Active Growth” hair ) can be removed by laser treatment.

One of our clients ( you know who you are ) is schedule challenged. Despite her best efforts, she sometimes misses appointments a month or more at a time. Unfortunately for her, she booked a hair removal series with us that takes six regular visits about a month apart. Because she skipped months during her treatment schedule she missed a significant amount of her active growth hair. What this means is that she needed to start the series all over again.

That’s right ladies, she had to start from scratch… a very expensive mistake.

Sooooooooo… do yourself a favor, keep your appointments. You do have some wiggle room, but only two weeks. So try very hard to keep…. on…. track….

So easy, even a Caveman can understand it…

Dark skin bad, light skin good.

We are talking lasers here.  When a laser hits your skin, the darker the skin, the more energy is put into ( or is absorbed )  by the surface of the skin, and the less energy is put into the stuff your trying to get rid of.

Our darker skinned patients sometimes ask us why it takes longer to get the same spectacular results achieved on our lighter skinned patients in the same amount of time.  The simple fact is that we just can’t make the treatments as intense with darker skin, which makes them less effective.  Because we must crank down the volume, this requires more treatments.  Typically two or three more in the series to achieve the same results.  Oh, it still works great, it just takes longer.

So blame your parents :)

If I could repeal the laws of physics…. I would. Right after turning lead into gold, and becoming invisible.

For those of you who are thinking of worshiping the sun God prior to coming in for a treatment…

Stop! Wait! Forgetaboutit!

If you feel that you absolutely MUST be darker during the summer months, get a spray tan. They only last for 7 days so you can time your treatment schedule around this.

BE SMART!

just say NO to the sun

Honeeeeey where’s the spackle? I found another wrinkle.

Well it looks like Allergan’s scientists finally got it right.

(cue the promotional music….)

New from Allergan!

drum roll please……”Juvederm!” ta da!

The worlds best dermal crack filler.

Unlike competitors with similar products, Juvederm has virtually no side effects as it’s produced from a substance that’s found naturally in the body. Best of all, it lasts an entire YEAR! AND!!! IT WORKS INSTANTLY!!!!

Oh please…. I heard it on the TV, it must be true.

But seriously, we have this client…. who’s name rhymes with Coolie… that came in for some of our wonderful injectables. She just wanted to soften some lines that had been bothering her… check out the results. These pictures were shot one day apart.

Juvederm Before Juvederm After

no kidding.

(end commercial)

Sooooo if you have deep wrinkles around your nose (nasal labium), or below your mouth (marinette), that are bugging the heck out of you… you OWE it to yourself to at least check into this stuff….

Who knows, you might get that promotion, or invited to speak at some national convention (roll the television cameras) and you’ll be noticed by your old high school boy friend that dumped you just before the prom… and he’ll realize what a putz he was for tossing you aside like a used kleenex…

I’m so shallow ;)

You Jezebel!

May 13th, 2008

So I get this call from a client… she tells me that she hides the fact that she uses Botox because of what people would say about her if they found out she’s using. HEY INTERNET it’s the 21st century. We have flying cars, meals in tubes, and pretty much instant cooking (ding, ding! … that would be my mac and cheese).

Just think what the cave men would have thought of eye liner… evil magic, burn her at once… anyone have a match?

HELLO, everyone and their dog is doing BOTOX. They just choose to let you think it’s all natural. You can soften your lines, fill your lines, erase your lines, heck you can even make more lines if you want. This stuff is amazing.

So do your self a favor and give it a try. Just pick one area of your face you want to improve on (or that you obsess about every morning you look at yourself brushing your teeth), and make some refinements. The number of units you use will determine the effect. Start with just a few, 10 or 20. Wait two weeks, check out what it does for you, and come back if you want more.

TRY IT! go ahead your already thinking about it ;)

Why look any older than you absolutely have to???
